This week Farsley Celtic were the visitors to the SHU Sports park with a last minute change of pitch accepted by both teams. The first half was a fairly even game with the Owls starting strong and early chances coming for Jodie Stancill and Channy Rymer. Farsley's only early effort came in the 8th minute with a shot going wide. Fay Cassidy was unlucky in the 18th minute at the near post as she couldnt force the ball over the line with the keeper well positioned. Farsley then had a couple of good passages of play with two efforts unable to secure a goal. Channy put a great low ball across the box with Jodie unable to get a foot on to tap the ball home. It was Farsley who took the lead on 30 minutes when a low shot fron 20 yards beat keeper Laura Gilmore at her right hand post 1-0. Channy and Jodie combined again on 37 minutes to even the game up with a tap in at the back post. The Farsley keeper had to be on her toes to make a comfortable save from a throwin and Phoebe Davis saw her shot fly over the goal on 41 minutes. A mazy run from Jess Morrison resulted in the keeper bringing her down in the box which resulted in a penalty that Fay Cassidy stepped up to take and convert.

Half Time: 2-1

A decent first half for the Owls who edged the number of chances although the possession was about even. The second half belonged to Farsley our lot huffed and puffed but the next goal went to Farsley on 58 minutes and that tap in from a low cross gave them the jump start they needed. It couldv'e been a different story if Channy and Emily Higgins had put away a chance that saw her round the keeper but the ball was smothered on the line. Farsley went on to score two more quick goals that again should have been dealt with that made it game over and 4-2 but to add insult to injury another sloppy goal was conceded with the last kick of the game to make a final score of 5-2.

Manager Dave Higgins comments:

I was fairly happy with the first half, did we deserve to be 2-1 up?, i'm not so sure but Farsley had certainly not caused us too many problems and i felt confident going into the 2nd half. A missed chance at a crucial point and some cheap goals given away secured Farsley a deserved victory, no complaints. I do think the scoreline flattered the opposition, yes they finished deserved winners but more a 3 or 4-2 game.

It doesn't get any easier we travel to Harrogate next week to face a team we last played a couple of seasons ago who gave us a 8-0 battering at their place before we beat them 2-1 in the final game of their promotion season.
